Why You’re Exhausted (And It’s Not Just Because You’re Busy Beautiful Solo Mum)

May 06, 2026

There’s a kind of exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix.

You might go to bed early…
You might try to rest when you can…
But it doesn’t seem to touch it.

Because this isn’t just tiredness.

This is the kind of exhaustion that comes from carrying everything.

Being the one who remembers the appointments & gets everyone to them.
The one who holds the household routines together.
The one who makes the decisions, solves all the problems, takes on all the emotions, and keeps everything moving… even when you’re running on empty.

And often, there’s no off-switch.

Even when the house is quiet, your mind isn’t.
You’re still thinking ahead. Planning. Worrying. Holding it all together in ways people don't always see.

This kind of load is invisible to most people as it isn't a part of their reality.

From the outside, it might look like you’re managing.
But inside, it can feel like you’re constantly bracing… like there’s no space to fully exhale.

And over time, that has an impact that builds up.

It’s not just physical tiredness — it’s mental, emotional, and nervous system fatigue.

The kind that comes from:

  • Always needing to be “on”
  • Not having backup
  • Feeling like there’s no room to drop the ball
  • Carrying responsibility that doesn’t get shared

So if you’ve been wondering…

“Why am I so exhausted all the time?”
“Why can’t I seem to catch up?”
“Why does everything feel so heavy?”

It might not be because you’re doing something wrong.

It might be because you’ve been doing so much, for so long, without enough support.

And that kind of load was never meant to be carried alone.

You may wish to gently reflect on this:

Where in your life are you holding more than one person was ever meant to hold?

Not to fix it.
Not to change it all at once.

But simply to acknowledge the weight you’ve been carrying.

Because being seen in that… even by yourself… can be a powerful place to begin.
