Don't Wait Until "Someday" to Love Your Life

Aug 24, 2026

Have you ever noticed how easily we postpone joy?

"I'll be happy when..."

...the kids are older.

...I've lost weight.

...I've paid off the debt.

...I meet someone.

...life settles down.

...work isn't so busy.

We become experts at placing our happiness somewhere in the future.

As though life is something we're preparing for instead of something we're already living.

This month we've journeyed together.

We remembered how to dream again.

We explored creating more peace in our everyday lives.

We met the woman we're becoming.

And now I'd love to offer one final invitation.

What if you didn't have to wait?

Not because life is perfect.

But because life is happening now.

Romanticising Your Life Isn't Pretending

When people hear the phrase romanticising your life, they sometimes imagine expensive holidays, fresh flowers every week or picture-perfect homes.

That's not what I mean.

To me, romanticising your life is choosing to notice the beauty that already exists.

It's opening the curtains in the morning and letting the sunshine in.

It's making your favourite mug of tea instead of grabbing whatever is closest.

It's lighting a candle while you fold washing.

It's putting music on while you cook dinner with your children.

It's noticing the laughter around your table instead of only seeing the dishes waiting afterwards.

It's slowing down long enough to realise that this ordinary moment may one day become one of your favourite memories.

Your Children Won't Remember the Perfect House

One day, your children won't remember whether every cushion was in its place.

They'll remember how home felt.

Did it feel warm?

Safe?

Full of laughter?

Did Mum dance in the kitchen sometimes?

Did she stop to watch sunsets?

Did she cuddle us on the couch?

Did she smile?

Sometimes we think creating a beautiful life requires extraordinary moments.

But children have a wonderful way of reminding us that magic often lives in ordinary Tuesday afternoons.

Becoming Present

One perspective you may wish to reflect on is this:

We spend so much time thinking about tomorrow that we accidentally miss today.

The irony is that one day, today will become one of the "good old days."

The little shoes by the front door.

The bedtime stories.

The school drop-offs.

The endless questions.

Even the chaos.

There may come a day when you'll miss parts of this season more than you can imagine.

Not all of it.

But pieces of it.

Joy Doesn't Need Permission

Somewhere along the way, many women begin believing that joy has to be earned.

That after everyone else is happy...

After every responsibility is complete...

After every problem is solved...

Then we'll allow ourselves to enjoy life.

But joy isn't a reward.

It's nourishment.

The more joy we allow ourselves to experience, the more present we become.

The more present we become, the richer our lives begin to feel.

Your Beautiful, Ordinary Life

Perhaps your life doesn't look the way you imagined it would.

Perhaps there are chapters you never would have chosen.

That doesn't mean beauty has disappeared.

Sometimes beauty simply changes shape.

It becomes slower.

Quieter.

Found in conversations over dinner.

Coffee on the back step.

Watching your children sleep.

A walk in the sunshine.

Fresh sheets on the bed.

A text from a friend.

A deep breath after a long day.

The life you're creating isn't only waiting in the future.

It's gently unfolding around you every single day.

Looking Back

If you've been reading along this month, I'd love you to pause for just a moment.

Think back to where you were four weeks ago.

Perhaps you've remembered a dream.

Created more peace.

Made one brave decision.

Believed in yourself a little more.

None of those things are small.

They're how beautiful lives are built.

One choice at a time.

A Final Invitation

This week, don't look for extraordinary.

Look for beautiful.

Collect little moments that make you smile.

Write them down.

Take photos.

Laugh more.

Dance while you're making dinner.

Watch sunsets.

Celebrate ordinary Tuesdays.

Because one day you'll realise...

This wasn't an ordinary life at all.

It was your beautiful one.

Reflection

What are three ordinary moments from today that you'll be grateful you noticed?

Perhaps that's the beginning of falling in love with your life.

Again.

With love
